The Ballymacoll Stud dispersal comprises 52 horses in total, starting with a well-connected group of yearlings slated for the upcoming Tattersalls October Sale.
Corduff Stud have been entrusted with the yearling consignment, which contains a Sea The Stars filly out of champion Islington and a Kingman filly out of Islington’s three-parts sister Justlookdontouch, herself the dam of this season’s smart filly Abingdon.
An Oasis Dream filly out of G2 winner Eleanora Duse, an Exceed And Excel daughter of Musidora Stakes winner Liber Nauticus and a Cacique half-sister to Melbourne Cup hero Fiorente should also be popular.
Another six horses are catalogued to the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training sale from Sir Michael Stoute’s Freemason Lodge Stables.
The vast majority of the stock, however, head to the Tattersalls December Sale, where they will be offered through Norelands Stud and The Castlebridge Consignment.
One of the likely jewels is an Oasis Dream filly out of Islington, who is remarkably her dam’s 11th filly from as many foals. Also catalogued are foals out of Eleanora Duse (filly by Gleneagles), Justlookdontouch (colt by Kingman) and Liber Nauticus (colt by Golden Horn).
Islington herself sells in foal to Kingman alongside several of her daughters. Abingdon, a listed winner and G2-placed this year, is also catalogued as is her dam Justlookdontouch and 2-year-old half-sister Aim Artemis, who looked potential stakes material when winning recently at Leicester.
Others of note include Eleanora Duse, in foal to Frankel, Liber Nauticus, in foal to Harzand, and Irish Oaks runner-up Scottish Stage, who is in foal to Fascinating Rock.
“Not since the Joel dispersal of 1986 have purchasers had the opportunity to acquire stock from a single farm so carefully nurtured over nearly 60 years by successive generations of the same family,” remarks Tattersalls’ chairman Edmond Mahony. “Rarely, if ever, has a broodmare band of such select numbers achieved so much on the global stage.”
Another four mares head to the Goffs Orby Sale under the Jockey Hall Stud banner, including Fiorente’s dam Desert Bloom (in foal to Teofilo) and Scottish Stage’s dam Drama Class (in foal to Acclamation).
