A look at some of the most notable movers in the TRC Global Rankings after last week’s action.
Scat Daddy’s hot streak goes on
Scat Daddy (+4pts, stays #3) - the world's hottest stallion in 2018 - added another two winners to his classifications data at the Curragh when So Perfect won the G3 Grangecon Stud Stakes and Van Beethoven the G2 Railway Stakes. The pair are trained by Aidan O'Brien (+1pt, stays #1) and were ridden by Ryan Moore (+2pts, stays #1) for Coolmore Partners (+2pts, stay #1) .
What Urban Fox’s win meant for connections
The G1 Juddmonte Pretty Polly Stakes win at the Curragh on Sunday of Urban Fox (when she upset Epsom Oaks heroine Forever Together) was a real boost for his sire, Foxwedge. The son of world #11 Fastnet Rock moves from #238 to #154.
Also on the move thanks to Urban Fox are trainer William Haggas (+4, #40 from #43) and jockey Danny Tudhope (+6, #98 from #116). Tudhope is a talented rider, but this was his first Group win since Suedois in the G1 Shadwell Turf Mile at Keeneland last October.
Waldgeist boost for Fabre
Legendary French trainer Andre Fabre (+5pts, #8 from #12) returned to the top ten when siblings Waldgeist (G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud) and Waldlied (G2 Prix de Malleret) won a pair of Group races on the same Saint-Cloud card. If we did broodmare rankings, 9-year-old Monsun mare Waldlerche would be mover of the week.
More Than Ready on the way back up
It was a good week for WinStar stalwart More Than Ready (+5pts, #24 from #32). Two Graded winners came the stallion’s way: Funtastic in the G1 United Nations Stakes at Monmouth and Sir Truebadour in the G3 Bashford Manor at Churchill Downs. More Than Ready is a consistent producer who spent three weeks at #12 in 2014.
Watch out for Oisin
Oisin Murphy (+3pts, now up to a personal best world #23 from #28) will look to gain his first British G1 success on Roaring Lion in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown on Saturday. He warmed up with victory on Night Music - by Sea The Stars (+2pts, #10 from #11) - in the G2 Gran Premio di Milano at San Siro in Italy.
More success for world’s #1 female rider
She became the world’s highest-ranked female jockey just a fortnight ago, and this week 20-year-old Lucy Warwick has strengthened that position after another Group win aboard the horse who has brought her most of her Group-race success, the 6-year-old Material Man.
She gains 4pts week-on-week and is now world #163 (from 191) after the gelding won a G3 at Belmont Park in Perth, Western Australia. The victory also meant a 5pt gain for trainer Justin Warwick (Lucy’s father), who is now #179 (from 226). It was Material Man’s fourth Group win of the year for the pair.
Lucy Warwick is now nine points clear of the second-highest female, fellow Aussie Jamie Kah (#235).
Alduino Botti keeps on climbing
This week sees yet another rankings-rise for Italian trainer Alduino Botti (#75 from #97). He has been on a tear recently, earning another 6pts from Wait Forever's G3 win at San Siro in Italy. Botti was ranked as low as #368 in April but has had no fewer than five Group winners since.
