Just two weeks after his last triumph as our TRC Sire of the Week (after Triple Crown filly Almond Eye's magnificent victory in the Dubai Turf), the mighty Lord Kanaloa has done it again! And it looks as though he could have another world-class superstar to represent him this year.
The Japanese stallion sensation (+8pts, #7 from #12) - we have featured him multiple times as a rising star, even comparing his stallion career to Frankel’s - added another two winners to his portfolio of success, via the G1 Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas) at Nakayama with the top-notch Saturnalia and the G3 Arlington Cup at Hanshin with Iberis.
Watch Saturnalia (number 12) power home below. He may not have won by far (a head and a nose) but there is no denying the impressive style of his performance.
There were also doubles this week for Not A Single Doubt (+4pts, #19 from #25) in Australia and Curlin (+1pt, stays #17) in the U.S. Let’s see how all of this success affects the TRC Global Rankingsfor data in 2019 only:
Both Lord Kanaloa and Not A Single Doubt feature in the top 15 this year, which has helped both move up the overall classifications. This, of course, will likely change once the European season kicks into gear, though world #1 Dubawi is expected to be a big player in that too, of course.
For his part, War Front has gone 5-19 (26%) this year. His figures were boosted by G1 Arkansas Derby winner Omaha Beach, who could well give him another boost in the G1 Kentucky Derby, for which he holds very strong claims.
