With 14 prestigious Grade 1s up for grabs over the two days - and many of the leading individuals in the TRC Global Rankings represented, last weekend’s Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita was always bound to have a significant impact on the standings.
The tables below show all jockeys, owners, trainers and sires in the top 100s of their respective categories who gained four or more performance index points because of their achievements in the world championships.

Trainers Joseph O’Brien and Peter Miller are the biggest gainers (+7pts apiece), each rising six places in the standings. They are both in the top 30. But perhaps the most significant climb came from Curlin, sire of Longines Classic hero Vino Rosso, who rose to world #11 and opened up a lead of five points over Candy Ride at the top of the dirt sire rankings.
The biggest winners of the weekend, of course, were Irad Ortiz Jr (four wins) and Chad Brown (three), but they are already firmly established in the high echelons of their categories and, while their points gains certainly reinforce their existing positions, they do not mean a move up the standings for either of them at this stage.
