Record-breaking racemare Enable delivered her first foal on Friday [Feb 11] afternoon with what was described as “strikingly marked colt foal” by Juddmonte’s supersire Kingman.
Now eight, the brilliant daughter of Nathaniel was an 11-time G1 winner altogether in the colours of the late Khalid Abdullah, for whom she won a record three King Georges at Ascot and back-to-back editions of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in 2017 and 2018.
She is set to visit Darley superstar Dubawi (world #2 on the TRC Global Rankings for sires) for her second covering in 2022, having been covered by Kingman (world #4) at Banstead Manor in February 2021.
News of Enable’s first foal was released in a Juddmonte statement, saying: "Juddmonte are delighted to announce that Enable has given birth to a strikingly-marked colt-foal by Kingman at 3.54pm on Friday, the day before her own birthday. Enable has taken to her maternal duties extremely well. Special moments are worth the wait!"
Enable became one of the most popular racehorses of the modern era in a glittering career for trainer John Gosden. A longtime #1 on TRC’s Global Rankings, Enable was twice named Cartier Horse of the Year in Europe and was the world’s top-rated racehorse in 2019 according to IFHA handicappers.
Ridden by her biggest admirer Frankie Dettori, her top-level victories also included the Breeders’ Cup Turf, Classic victories in Oaks in both Britain and Ireland, a pair of Yorkshire Oaks and an Eclipse Stakes.
A winner of 15 of 19 career starts, she was retired after finishing only sixth behind Sottsass when trying to add to her laurels with a third Arc win at ParisLongchamp in 2020.
