James Willoughby picks out the jockey, trainer, owner and sire who made the biggest impact in the TRC Global Rankings week that ended on Sunday.
TRC SIRE OF THE WEEK
The magnificent Galileo had five winners (3 x G3, 2 x G2, +4pts, stays #2) but honours go to I AM INVINCIBLE (+11pts, #5 from #6) whose four winners included the G1 Flight Stakes at Randwick and the G1 Moir Stakes at Moonee Valley. The pride of Yarraman Park, New South Wales, breaks into the top five for the first time.
TRC OWNER OF THE WEEK
The ownership entity we classify as COOLMORE PARTNERS equalled their own TRC owner record for number of winners in a week with seven. Notable among them was the G1 juvenile double at Newmarket, which the world #1 owners annexed with Fairyland in the Cheveley Park Stakes and Ten Sovereigns in the Middle Park. They extend their lead as #1 owner to 27pts.
TRC TRAINER OF THE WEEK
Most weeks that Coolmore Partners garner ownership honours, so too will incomparable world #1 AIDAN O'BRIEN as a trainer. Again, O'Brien equalled his own TRC Trainer record for winners in a week with seven. O'Brien's breakdown was 2 x G1, 3 x G2 and 2 x G3, with Fairyland and Ten Sovereigns leading the way at G1 level at Newmarket.
TRC JOCKEY OF THE WEEK
Australian rider BEN MELHAM formerly rode Black Caviar to victory and was ranked inside the world's Top 30 last year by TRC Global Rankings. The 30-year-old is heading back in that direction (#41 from #59) after a stunning four-bagger (+14pts) at Caulfield, Randwick and Moonee Valley (2). Highlight was the G1 Underwood on Homesman (see video above).
